Holiday Bulletin Boards

Valentine’s Day: A Merry Heart Doeth Good Proverbs 15:13

Materials Needed

  • Pink paper for the background
  • Red border
  • Large red heart (provided here)
  • Small boxes of Conversation Hearts candy, one box for each child
  • Picture of each child
  • Letters that spell out “A Merry Heart Doeth Good”

Putting it Together

Cover the bulletin board with the pink paper. Add the red border around the edges of the board. Attach the large red heart in the center of the board. Put the words in the red heart. Cut out the front of each Conversation Heart box. Attach a photo of each child in the back window part of the candy box. Arrange these on the board.

St. Patrick’s Day: More Precious Than Gold

Materials Needed

  • Green paper for the background
  • Gold border
  • Pot of gold cutout
  • Plastic gold coins
  • Picture of Jesus
  • Large circle cutouts

Putting it Together

Place the green paper on the board as the background. Add the words “More Precious Than Gold” somewhere on the board. Attach the pot of gold in the center of the bulletin board. Use the gold coins to decorate the pot. Have the children draw their face on a large circle (self portrait), and place the circles around the pot of gold. Attach a picture of Jesus in the upper left corner of the board, as if he is looking down on the children’s faces.

Easter: He is Risen!

Materials Needed

  • Yellow paper for the top part of the board
  • Green paper for the bottom part of the board
  • Brown paper for hills
  • Gray paper
  • 3 black cross cutouts (provided here)

Putting it Together

Start by covering the top half of the board with the yellow paper. The green paper is the ground. Cut mounds for hills. Attach the crosses on the hills. Use the gray paper to make a “stone” cave. Color the opening black to represent the opening of the cave. Write, “He has Risen” across the top.

Mother’s Day: My son, keep your father's commands and do not forsake your mother's teaching.

Proverbs 6:20

Materials Needed

  • Green paper for background
  • Pink border
  • Flower cutouts
  • Green pipe cleaners
  • Large vase cutout
  • Picture of each child with mother (prepare ahead of time!)
  • Glue sticks

Putting it Together

Place the green paper up as the background.  Staple the border around the bulletin board.  Attach the vase in the center of the bulletin board.  Give each child a flower cutout and let her paste the picture of she and her mother in the center of the flower.  Arrange the flowers so each has a green pipe cleaner for a stem, and it appears that the flowers are coming out of the vase to make a bouquet.  Place the words “Do Not Forsake Your Mother’s Teaching” on the bulletin board using the letters provided with this eBook, or using your own.

Father’s Day: Listen, my son, to your father's instruction.

Proverbs 1:8

Materials Needed

  • Yellow paper for background
  • Blue border
  • Tie cutout
  • Crayons
  • Decorative items, such as glitter and stickers
  • Glue
  • Letters to spell out “Listen to Your Father”

Putting it Together

Put up the yellow paper as the background. Attach the border around the entire bulletin board. Give each child a tie cutout to decorate with crayons, glitter, stickers, etc. Encourage each child to write his name on the tie. Place the wording “Listen to Your Father” on the board. Once the ties are dry, arrange them on the bulletin board.

4th of July: Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.

John 8:32

Materials Needed

  • White paper for background
  • Firecracker coloring page, provided here
  • Crayons
  • Red, white, and blue streamers
  • Letters spelling out “The Truth Will Set You Free”

Putting it Together

Start by putting up the white paper as the background. Arrange the words “The Truth Will Set You Free” at the top of the bulletin board. Use streamers to make a United States flag in the center of the bulletin board. Use the blue streamer to roll up balls to represent stars. Have the children color a firecracker picture and write their name on it.  Attach the firecracker cutouts in random places on the board.

Thanksgiving: Now our God, we give your thanks, and praise your glorious name.

1 Chronicles 29:11-13

Materials Needed

  • Orange paper for the background
  • Fall leaf garland
  • Large turkey cut out, provided her
  • Several colors of construction paper cut out into feather shapes

Putting it Together

  1. Cover the board with the orange paper.
  2. Put the turkey in the center of the board.
  3. Have the children write what they are thankful for on each feather and attach the feathers to the turkey’s “behind.”
  4. Attach the leaf garland around the edge of the board.

Christmas: Celebrate God’s Gift to Us

Materials Needed

  • Colorful Christmas wrapping paper
  • Wide ribbon
  • Large Christmas bow cutout, provided here
  • Letters that spell out “Celebrate God’s Gift to Us”

Putting it Together

Cover the entire board with the wrapping paper.  Add the ribbon going across the board.  Add the bow right in the middle of the board.  Attach the words at the top of the board.
